Sowing date: March, April, possibly September0
Several experiments have shown that the most ideal intercropping method for vines is the planting of cover crops. It protects the area from erosion while loosening and stabilising the soil. Not only does ECOVIN 2.0 protect the soil from drying out, but the butterfly species composition enriches the soil with nitrogen, providing nutrients for the vines and promoting a rich soil life.
It also ensures easier passage of the cultivating vehicles during the rainy season. ECOVIN 2.0 increases the species richness of the plant composition of the area and restores the ecological balance, reducing the presence of noxious perennial weeds. The row cover also provides a habitat for the proliferation of beneficial organisms. By mowing at the right time (depending on rainfall and plant height), we can create a sustainable succession of vegetation for several years.
Composition: alfalfa, white clover, hop alfalfa, purple alfalfa, spotted knapweed, hornbeam, vetch,
hare's-foot, facelia, pohanka, spearwort, seeded knotweed, mullein
Functions.
However, the use of poorly selected cover crops or natural weeds growing in situ
often does not achieve the desired result or even a balanced growth of the vine,
and water supply. A well selected, species-rich, butterfly-rich
seed mix with a good mix of plant species, including vines, has the following positive effects:
- Optimal, aerated soil structure
- Balanced soil moisture
- Improved soil fertility due to nitrogen fixation and increased humus content
- Enriched soil life - proliferation of beneficial microbes, insects, earthworms that improve nutrient supply,
mobilise and absorb nutrients
- Rich soil life significantly reduces the presence of soil-borne pathogens
- Dangerous weeds are reduced
- Erosion control
- Quick access to machinery after precipitation
- Low maintenance costs (no need for regular, very expensive soil cultivation)
- Flowering plants attract beneficial organisms and help them to multiply
When preparing the seedbed, try to keep the seedbed as dusty and weed-free as possible. A machine suitable for sowing small seeds is needed.
Never cut the vegetation shorter than 10 cm when mowing.
Mowing too short will make it easier for the seeds to come up
undesirable weeds, the weed suppressing capacity of the cover crop
is lost.
Packaging: 5 kg, 20 kg.
