The true San Marzano tomato, a very vigorous plant of medium size. It produces abundant long fruits up to 10 cm in size and 4-5 cm in diameter. The San Marzano tomato, a Lucullus-type traditional Italian tomato variety, is the basis of pizza sauces (in Naples and its surroundings only pizza sauce made from this variety is accepted as authentic), but is used in most Italian tomato dishes. The San Marzano is a determinate tomato variety, with a maximum height of one metre when fully grown.
