Introduction to lemon-scented basil:
Anyone who plants lemon basil in their garden or on their balcony will have a real basil speciality. The lemon fragrance will bring a Mediterranean atmosphere to your garden. It is an annual, 40-50 cm tall, warm and light-loving plant. Its leaves are medium-sized and its flowers are pinkish-pink. Excellent aroma, the whole plant smells of lemon.
What makes it special?
Lemon basil stands out from other basil species with its lemony flavour and fragrance. Basil species have long been used as both an essential oil herb and a medicinal herb.
Where does it come from?
A lemon-scented variety of Thai basil with dark green, narrow leaves and white-lip-flowered annuals (so it survives from spring to autumn frosts).
Where to plant?
As it is a warm and light-demanding plant, plant the stems in a warm, sunny part of your garden for the expected success!
Use:
It will provide you with fresh, flowering shoots and leaves to season your dishes all summer long. An excellent appetite stimulant, anti-puffiness and anti-inflammatory tea can also be made from the fresh shoots throughout the summer. This wonderful plant will give your dishes a unique flavour. It is excellent for sauces, chicken dishes, and ice creams and desserts.
How to preserve?
Can be preserved by drying, but loses much of its essential oil content and aroma.
