MECHANISM OF ACTION
Karathane Star has a unique mode of action: it permeabilizes ("punctures") the mitochondrial membrane. This disrupts cellular respiration and metabolic processes, leading to rapid cell death. Contact formulation, no specific site of action.

PROPOSED PLANT PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY:

The preparation should be applied preventively during the period of infection risk or at the latest at the first symptoms and repeated as necessary (maximum 4 times) at 10-12 day intervals depending on the infection risk. A lower spray rate (500-700 l/ha) should be used at the beginning of the growing season (small-leaf stage - shoot growth) and a higher spray rate (800-1000 l/ha) should be used as the growing season progresses (post-flowering). If there is a serious risk of infestation, a shorter spray cycle (7-10 days) and higher spray rates are recommended. For curative control, a high spray rate of 0,6-0,72 l/ha combined with a wetting agent can be used when an infestation occurs. The treatment should be repeated after 5 days if conditions predisposing to infection persist.

In all cases, uniform and complete coverage with spray should be sought, even in the inner foliage. Spraying should always be carried out in the early morning or late evening in the summer at temperatures below 25 °C.

PRACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE

Karathane Star, applied after bud break (preventively), kills overwintered powdery mildew. Unlike sulphur, it is effective at low temperatures (below 18-20°C). Early treatment is recommended for all those who have a "zero tolerance" approach to powdery mildew and produce quality grapes. During this period, apply Karathane Start at a minimum rate of 0.6 l/ha, applied with at least 500 litres of water.

When applied in the absorption block in combination with systemic formulations at a dose of 0.6 l/ha, applied in a preventive manner, it can block any infestations that may have occurred. We recommend the use of Karathane Star as a combination partner in all cases where infection pressure is high or where weather or other reasons cause spray rounds to be longer than safe (prescribed).

It can also be used as a "knockdown" in the early stages of infestation due to its curative and eradicative effects in the post-flowering period. To achieve a safer efficacy, combine with sulphur (fumigant effect) and absorbable azole (foliar protection) and repeat the treatment 2 times with a 5-day cycle! In any case, do not exceed twice the prescribed concentration and do not spray at temperatures above 25°C, as this increases the risk of leaf scorch in sensitive varieties!
