Suitable for annual production, long growing season, giant size (80-100g average weight). Nice rounded shape, light brown outer skin, white flesh, pleasant flavour. Recommended for fresh consumption, salads and soups. Can be stored for short periods.


Onions are one of our oldest cultivated plants. It does not require heat, and can withstand temperatures of -6 to -7 degrees Celsius. It has medium water requirements, as its shallow roots cannot absorb the moisture found deeper down. Onions can also be grown from seed and from bulbs. Growing onions from bulbs requires two years, as the first year the bulbs are grown and planted in the autumn (September-October) or spring (March-April). Annual varieties are sown from seed in March-April. Onions can also be grown as an intercrop with parsley, carrots, spinach and lettuce. Chives can also be sown in pots in the winter and can grow green in the kitchen window.

Tip: Onions contain mustard oil, which has a germicidal effect. In case of colds, eat plenty of fresh onions. They also have a high mineral salt content, are rich in bioactive substances and play an important role in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
