A versatile annual flower with a variety of colours.
Growing Lion's Mouth:
Sowing:
The earlier it is sown, the earlier it flowers. In January-February it can be sown in a greenhouse, in March in a hotbed or under heated foil. Sowing in a permanent location will result in late flowering.
Flowering:
Best in late June-early July, but flowers can be found with minor interruptions until autumn.
Demands:
Prefers a sunny spot, normal garden soil. It is drought tolerant, but grows better with moderate watering.
Use:
Low variety:
Flowerbed and border plants 30-40 cm tall, giving a dense colour effect. The Hungarian varieties Hólabda, Aranygugel and Tűzlabda are particularly showy, regular spherical flowers without a prominent central flower stalk. All colours except blue can be found among its flowers.
Bushy tall variety:
80-90 cm tall, large flowers, suitable for cutting and planting.
