What are the properties of red basil?
It is an annual plant with white or pale burgundy flowers, 40-50cm tall, and is warm and light-loving. The leaves are purplish red, and only reach their full colour in sunlight. The herbs and spices contain a lot of essential oils, which give them their special aroma. They can also be grown in a small balcony box or pot to add fresh, fragrant spices to your dishes all year round. They need a sunny, warm place.
Store your spices in a dry place, carefully separated from each other, in tightly closed boxes, protected from light. Coarsely ground spices retain their aroma longer and are only ground when cooking.
